Hello everyone! My name is Akari Yamada from the Global Media Studies Department. I am a third-year student. I will tell you a little bit about myself. When I was in high school, I studied in Canada for almost 2 years. |
So, what interests me the most is cross-cultural communication and cross-cultural understanding. This year I graduated from a college (神田外語学院) and transferred to Komazawa University.
So I am a transfer student（編入生）. It’s very nice to meet you all, and I am very glad to join Professor Ko’s seminar（高ゼミ）. I am going to write my first blog in English, because I would like to use and improve my English. Please forgive any grammatical mistakes I might make.
I would like to introduce my place of my birth, Kichijoji（吉祥寺）!! Have you ever been to Kichijoji before? The city is famous for the result of a survey naming it "the place people would most like to live". I think the biggest reason for the popularity of Kichijoji is its convenience for people’s daily lives.
Kichijoji is a city but not too big like Shinjuku or Shibuya, and also it is not crowed with so many people. But still there are many places to go shopping, watch movies, take a coffee break and so on. Also, people who are living in Kichijoji are very nice and treat one another like family.
Let me introduce three places I recommend you to go.
First of all, ハーモニカ横町! As you can see in the picture, you may realize that the street is very narrow and dark. This is because the street is very old. "ハーモニカ横丁"was established just after the end of World War II, so it has a history of more than 60 years.
The shops stand side by side very closely together. There are 98 shops gathered along the street. You may feel a nostalgic atmosphere, and be excited by finding both traditional shops and modern shops.
Second, this is the "バウスシアター". The theater is small. Only three screens are placed in this classy building. Of course, many famous movies are shown constantly, but also minor films are presented. Also, special movie events are held sometimes. Regardless of age and sex, a lot of people who love movies come to this theater, even if it’s a late show or when movie events are held.
Finally, I strongly recommend you visit the famous park, "井の頭公園"!! Kichijoji is popular with people of all ages. I guess one reason for this is that the beautiful park is located very close to Kichijoji City. People need only 15 minutes to walk from the station.
I love the scenery during the cherry-blossom season. Moreover, Inokashira Park is often used as a location for shooting dramas. For example, the successful Japanese dramas "ラスト・フレンズ", "高校教師』"and "愛していると言ってくれ"were shot here.
I love Kichijoji, so I am proud of my birth place. In conclusion I would like to introduce my personal blog. Feel free to visit my site! (Akari Yamada)
